Dependent Family (F3)
Scope of activity
A spouse and unmarried minor children of a specific visa holder (inviter) below can have an F3 (F-3) visa.
- D1, D2, D5, D6, D7, D8, D9, D10 *Restrictions for D2, D10 visa holders as below.
- A D2 visa holder must stay for over 6 months in a bachelor's degree course or higher. Family of a D2-1, D2-6, D2-8 visa holder cannot apply for an F3 visa
- A D10-1 visa holder must have at least 80 points. Even for those who the score system was not applied to get a D10-1 visa.
- E1, E2, E3, E4, E5, E6, E7

Basically, a F3 visa holder cannot work with a few exceptions.
- Seasonal work.
- Regional specific visa (F3-1R, 2R, 3R) holders
The period of stay is based on the allowed period for the inviter.
Visa issuance
If the inviter has already entered and the spouse and children want to enter Korea, you don't need the visa issuance certificate. If you want to enter together at the same time, you need the certificate to apply for visa at the Korean consulate.
If you need the certain sub type below, you can have the multi entry visa valid for 1 year which does not need the visa issuance certificate.
- F3-19: the inviter is an F4 visa holder and the period of stay is 1 year
- F3-20: the inviter is an H2 visa holder and the period of stay is 90 days
An F2-7 visa holder who need an F3-18 visa for a spouse and minor children must meet additional prerequisites.
An F2-99 visa holder who need an F3-18 visa for a spouse and minor children does not have additional prerequisites.
Visa change
A foreigner who entered with short-term visa (B, C) or long-term visa and stays legally can change to an F3 visa only for unavoidable reasons like birth and disease.
You can change to an F3-19 or F3-20 visa without even unavoidable reasons.
You can change to an F3-18 visa only when the inviter still meets the requirements for F2-99 change now.
Extension of period of stay
An inviter who has a specific visa must meet the requirements for that visa for an F3 visa holder to extend the period of stay.
Grant of status of stay
A child born in Korea can have an F3 visa when a parent has the specific visa as explained above and registered as foreigner.
